Some people think that the interest in the cars’ designs is superficial but the elegant design must cover a lot of flaws and errors, and increase the sales’ volume. For example, the “Jaguar E-Type” car always boasts of being the dream car despite that many experts know that this car is difficult to drive and there are some weaknesses in its transmission system. David Gooding who is the founder of the “Gooding & Co” exhibition said: “The beauty is the No. 1 factor in the evaluation of any car where if the car’s design is beautiful, it will attract the people attention immediately before knowing its features or prices”. Also, he added that the design is an important element in determining the total price of the car.
However, we note from time to time that most companies introduce some ugly cars such as the “Chrysler PT Cruiser” car and “Subaru Baja” car, and “Dodge Magnum” car so we decided to make a list to enumerate such bad designs.
In order to limit the names of the cars participating in the list, we consulted two cars experts who are known by their accurate observation and superior ingenuity. These experts are Brett Burke who is the specialist in writing about cars for the “Vanity Fair” magazine and Lawrence Ulrich who is the specialist in writing about cars in the “New York Times” magazine. These experts discuss what they believe the worst design of vehicles in the market and they did not take the price into account where the list contains the “Mercedes-Benz SL 550” car and the “McLaren P1 Concept” where these cars are very expensive.
Let us take “Toyota Prius” car as another example where the company wanted to give its Toyota hybrid models a distinctive design but Lawrence Ulrich says that its design does not help in this case at all but people accept to buy it in spite of its design. It is not necessary that the cheap price and safe design make the car boor. For example, Hyundai Company has taken the right decision when it distanced itself from the Camry and Accord cars’ approach.
