There are a number of indicators your vehicle can provide when brake repairs or service is needed. In modern Dubai, cars fresh from the carmakers come fitted with on-board diagnostic computer systems that display warning light or message to notify the car owner what needs to be fixed. Some cars on the car market make sounds when you step on the pedal to alert the driver that they need attention.
The following are some of the signs your car may have to require a brake service:
Vibrations: when pressure is applied to the brake pedal, it can often come with some loss of pedal response. When you press your foot against the brake pedal, the pedal should feel progressively more firm the harder you press it. If the pedal feels soft or travels almost or near the floor, it’s a safety issue that should be addressed immediately. Other vibrations that occur when braking may appear to emanate from the car seat or the steering wheel when braking.
Noises that occur when braking should be given close attention. Typical noises that indicate brake system problems include a soft ticking, loud clicks, deep rumbles or grinding sounds mostly from used cars. These noises can signal anything from a loss of brake fluid, worn brake pads or scored rotors which should be addressed as soon as possible. It’s a great idea to inspect brakes every six months.
In addition to unusual vibrations and sensations or strange noises coming from your brakes, if you suspect an issue with your brake system, take a moment to look directly beneath your vehicle.
Puddles of brake fluid, which may look like clear liquid with a brown are sure signs of needed brake repairs and a possibly unsafe brake system. It’s recommended to also check the breaking system before any journey as a safety precaution.
