Volvo XC in Detroit

Detroit is a hub of new cars and automobiles. Car auto shows are often arranged here and people love to attend these auto shows and look at different cars. On the 13th of this year’s January, The Volvo Concept XC Coupe was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show. This sleek motor car gives a hint of a future SUV.

 

This SUV concept has been designed on the heels of the Concept Coupe that was introduced in the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

New Volvo Design

The images revealed of this car served as teasers before it was finally revealed at the Detroit Motor Show. The car’s looks are greatly influenced by the Concept Coupe Volvo.

As the picture shows, the XC90 nose exhibits the latest floating grille of Volvo. This nose is quite bigger than the one of Concept and shows an enlarged version of the Volvo’s iron mark and trademark logo.

The XC90 will have new headlights on each side of the grille. These will be featured as LED running lights and will be T-shaped.

What surprises the viewers is the XC90 Volvo’s bonnet look and design. Featuring a wide flat surface and very simple is the car’s bonnet and clearly shows how solid is the car’s front.

At the back, the Volvo Concept exhibits LED tail-lights that are C-shaped.

The Volvo XC90’s dashboard middle will be featuring a central touch screen which will be iPad-sized. This means that not many buttons will be needed on the Volvo XC90. Majority of the functions of the car will be controlled via this iPad-sized touch screen located on the dashboard.

A similar Touch infotainment system is also featured in the Volvo XC90. This Android-based system will allow full internet browsing, weather information, Google maps navigation as well as mirroring functions.

Safety Technology

This car is probably one of the safest that is going to be riding on the roads because it harbors some latest safety-technologies. Since the car is made up of different steel grades, this has increased its rigidity and strength. Increasing the retention during and before a collision are the smart seat belts of the Volvo XC90. Sensor and radar technologies employed inside the car help prevent accidents from occurring. There is also an auto brake and detection option for large animals and moving pedestrians along the road. The car’s high beam headlights are also capable of detecting the vehicles coming from ahead.

Engine

The XC90 will be 150kg lesser in weight than its predecessor, owing to the savings in weight made from the usage of four-cylinder engines. The petrol version car will produced speed up to 280bhp, while the diesel version will produce speed of up to 230bhp. The new engine program of the Volvo XC90 will have plug-in hybrids.
