The Dubai Police has announced that motorists can avail up to 100% discount on their outstanding traffic fines if they follow the traffic rules and avoid committing dangerous violations. Details of the Discount Offer on Traffic Fines
The Dubai Police has announced details of the discount offer on traffic fines that is valid for fines issued in Dubai only. Motorists can avail this discount offer and get up to 100% discount on their outstanding fines according to the guidelines issued by authorities. Authorities have announced that the discount period for traffic fines issued in Dubai has begun from February 6, 2019.
Here are the details of the discount offer announced by Dubai Police:
- Motorists can avail 25% discount on their outstanding fines if they don’t commit a traffic violation for three months.
- 50% discount on traffic fines can be availed if motorists don’t commit a traffic violation for six months.
- Motorists can benefit from a 75% discount offer on their traffic fines if they don’t commit a violation for nine months.
- 100% discount on outstanding fines can be availed if motorists don’t commit a traffic violation for twelve months.

Official Statement on the New Discount Offer
Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Assistant Commander-In-Chief for Operations said that the new initiative to offer a discount on traffic fines is only valid for privately owned vehicles and doesn’t apply to the vehicles registered with rental offices, businesses and companies including private and public sector companies.
He explained that a driver’s compliance with traffic rules will be computed from February 6, 2019 with a 25% discount offer valid every three months. He also mentioned that if a motorist commits a traffic violation, the grace period for the discount offer will be recounted from the date of the new violation. He added that motorists who reside outside Dubai for three consecutive months from the date of the traffic violation will not be able to avail a discount on their fines.
In this way, the safe drivers will be able to avail up to 100% discount on their traffic fines if they don’t commit a traffic violation for the entire year. This offer applies to traffic fines issued in Dubai and is not applicable for fines issued by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) or Dubai Municipality.
Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police said that the new initiative has been taken after a thorough study of what is happening on the ground. He added that this initiative has been taken to ensure the happiness of people and is in line with the Year of Tolerance. He said that 2019 is not only the Year of Tolerance but also a year of reconciliation. He mentioned that the new initiative sends a message that the rules have been set to serve communities and not just to discipline offenders.
