But corolla maintained their quality of producing high end powered vehicles in last five decades. Public welcomed their vehicles and marked it as top brand in the world

According to sources, corolla was first launched in Japan in 1966 at Toyota Corolla Store which was a Japanese vehicle sales channel. It was not Toyota’s first small car, but it was perfectly made available to increase the private car sales in that decade. The 1966 model of Toyota Corolla was made available in both 2 door coupe and a 4 door sedan models. The size of the car matches with the current model of Toyota Yaris Hatchback. The importance of convenience was greatly taken care by company and they fitted Macpherson struts in front and solid rear axle, all supported by leaf springs.

For some tax complications, company decided to install engine of less than 1000 cc capacity, but later on it was upgraded to 1077 cc to give tough competition to their competitors Datsun 1000. In next few months engine was upgraded to 1166 cc and installed special twin carburetors for the purpose of increment in speed and power. Vehicle power ranged from 59 hp to 77 hp. It was made available in two types of manuals. Traditionally 4 speed floor shift manual or a 2 speed floor of column shift automatic transmission and all were with rear wheel drive. At that time manual transmission with four gears were considered to be a truck like because most of the cars at that time were 3 speed column shifters. But gradually public impressed by this four gear transmission and it became popular and favorite among public.
