Tesla is a known name in the auto industry for its highly efficient and advanced electric cars. The company has now launched the Tesla Model S and Model X in the UAE as a part of its recent initiative to introduce zero-emission cars in the country. The announcement for the launch of electric cars in the UAE was made by the CEO of the Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, at the World Government Summit on Feb 13, 2017. He announced that the online orders will now be accepted from the UAE and Tesla will deliver the first batch of electric cars in Dubai this summer.

Tesla has not only launched its electric cars in the UAE but has also revved up its efforts to provide the necessary support for charging and maintenance of its electric vehicles in the UAE. A dedicated online platform has been initiated in this regard and a pop-up store at Dubai Mall has also been set up. Tesla has plans to open a service center near Sheikh Zayed Road in July while another service center will also be launched in Abu Dhabi next year.

The CEO of Tesla Electric Cars, Elon Musk told the media about his plans to invest heavily in the UAE for charging, maintenance and support of the electric vehicles. For this purpose, Tesla has already opened two supercharging locations in Dubai. One of them is located at Jebel Ali’s last exit and the other one is located at Masdar City. There are already 26 destination charging stations located in the country and Tesla is all set to establish more than 50 new destination charging stations in the UAE by the end of 2017. Elon Musk also announced that by next year Tesla will be expanding its support and maintenance services for electric cars in countries like Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Elon Musk said Tesla Model S and Model X have been built to suit the environment and road conditions in the UAE. The heat of the UAE in summers can have a toll on even the best of automobiles but according to Elon Musk, Tesla electric cars go through rigorous testing in extreme climatic conditions, which makes them robust and efficient for different terrains and environments. He added that the cell battery of Tesla could perform efficiently even under 67°C, but also accepted the fact that humidity of the UAE in summer season could lead to a potential drop of 10-15% in the performance of batteries.
