The streets of Dubai without the cars of ministers and officials

Some ministers, officials and prominent figures from government and private agencies leaved their cars and went on the streets of Dubai to their workplaces across the public transportations including the Dubai’s metro where each official took the closest metro’s station to his home at seven thirty in the morning to be the first meeting point between the officials in front of the municipality building at eight in the morning. This move comes to interact with the initiative of “work without vehicles” which was organized by Dubai Municipality for the fifth year in a row for awareness and environmental goals. The list of officials involved who make sure their presence were the Minister of Education Humaid Al Qatami, Minister of Environment and Water Rashid bin Fahad, General Commander of Dubai Police Khamis Mattar Al Mazenh and the General Director of Dubai Municipality Hussain Nasser Lootah.

The list also included the General Director of Dubai Civil Aviation Mohammed Abdullah Ahli, General Director of Naturalization and Residency Department Mohammed Ahmed Rashid Al Marri, General Director of the Economic Development Department Sami Al Qamzi. There are many other officials who joined this event such as the Deputy Director of the Civil Defense Department Ahmed Al Sayegh, Director of Dubai Police Academy Mohammed Ahmed bin Fahad and the Director of the drivers’ licenses at RTA Sultan Al Marzouki. Also, the Executive Director of the Public Transportation Agency at Roads and Transport Authority Yousef Al Ali was very eager to confirm his presence in this exciting event in addition to the Captain Ali Mahdi who was the representative for the Federation of UAE Football Association. The ministers and officials who are participating in this initiative intended to attend an exhibition organized by the municipality in its special parking place in order to strengthen the importance of the initiative. The exhibition included many samples of green transportations that work with solar power and sports equipments plus trained athletes as well as providing advices and guidance about the benefits of walking in addition to free medical check-ups such as checking blood pressure and cholesterol.

This unprecedented initiative comes in order to achieve the environmental strategic goals and directions of the Emirate and the country where the streets of Dubai were missing about seven thousand vehicles and the parking places of the respective bodies and institutions involved in the event were closed.
