El Skoda Scout is the big news of the Czech brand for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. This is the camper model derived from the Octavia Combi, which will be launched in summer.

Being based in Octavia also assembled on the MQB modular platform of the Volkswagen Group.

The Scout came to market in 2008 under the name Octavia Scout but in 2010, its first update since renamed Scout. This model differs aesthetically from Octavia Combi camper by its appearance, such as with equivalent models like the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack and the Audi A4 All Road in the German group, or Country Opel Insignia Tourer, for example.

The interior has no major changes

Cosmetic changes affect the front and rear bumpers, which are black plastic with silver color and door sills and wheel arches with protective mouldings black. Outside also include alloy wheels of 17 inches that come standard, while the differences behind closed doors with the Octavia Combi are almost imperceptible.

The Scout comes standard with four-wheel drive four-wheel drive based on the Haldex clutch fifth generation. This increases traction by 25 % and improves the performance of start-up and climbing car, according to Skoda. The ground clearance is three inches higher than the Octavia Combi, which improves the angles of approach and departure routes for tracks to meet in good condition.

Skoda confirms that the Scout will have three engines, two diesel and petrol engines are 20% more efficient than the previous generation.

No specifies its powers but we can guess that the diesel will be the TDI 105 and 150 hp, while the petrol will be the 180-horsepower TSI. The gearbox can be manual or automatic DSG.

Reach dealerships before the beginning of summer and still no prices are known although from Skoda claim that there will be an increase over the previous generation despite being able to incorporate many systems of driving aids such as the detector angle dead, the speed control adaptive cruise or rail system maintenance.
