RTA has also revealed the one-time upgrading cost for number plates, which varies for short and long number plate design.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of RTA said that the new design of license plates will provide people with an opportunity to replace their current number plate with a new and distinctive number plate. She added that the new number plate design is clear and easy to read from a distance, which will help improve monitoring of vehicles involved in traffic violations.

Upgrading Cost of New Number Plates
RTA has announced that four different number plate designs are available for car owners to choose from while upgrading their license plates. The upgrading cost of all four designs is different, however, all four designs will feature the same three elements that are Dubai (Brand), number and code.
Here are the details of the four designs that car owners can select from while upgrading to the new license plate:
Short Plate
The regular short plate design will have the number in center, Dubai written at the top right corner and code at the top left corner. Car owners can upgrade to the new regular plate in AED 35.
Long Plate
The long plate will have the number dragged towards left, Dubai written at the top right corner and code placed below it. It will be available at a price of AED 50 per plate.
License Plate with Colored Dubai Logo
The license plate with colored Dubai logo will be available at a price of AED 400 in both long and short plate designs.
Luxurious Plate
The luxurious plate is exquisitely designed and can be purchased at a price of AED 500 per plate.
How to Upgrade to Newly Designed Number Plates in Dubai?
