All vehicles crossing the new toll gates will need to be registered with the online system. While the motorists with their vehicles registered in Abu Dhabi will be automatically registered with the new system, vehicles registered outside Abu Dhabi will need to be manually registered with the new system.

Motorists not complying with the guidelines issued by authorities will have to face serious traffic fines under the new toll system. Abu Dhabi traffic authorities have revealed the complete registration procedure and launched a new website that motorists can visit to register for the new toll system.

How to Register with the New Toll System?

It is important to understand that the manual registration with the new toll system in Abu Dhabi is only required for vehicles registered outside Abu Dhabi. This protocol has been established by traffic authorities to ensure that they carefully monitor every vehicle entering and leaving Abu Dhabi. There is a simple registration procedure that motorists will need to complete to sign up with the new toll system.

For the ease of motorists, the Integrated Transport Center in Abu Dhabi has launched a new website https://itps.itc.gov.ae/ that motorists can visit to complete the registration procedure in just a few minutes. The website also provides all the information required by motorists about the new toll system.

Here is the three-step registration process:

  • Log on to https://itps.itc.gov.ae/ or visit dot.gov.abudhabi/ website.
  • After opening the website, click on the Abu Dhabi Toll Gate System link on the left side of the
  • Provide Emirate ID details, license plate details and mobile number to sign up with the new toll system.

Motorists must know that a vehicle must be registered within 10 days of crossing a toll gate and violating this rule will incur hefty traffic fines on motorists.

Registration Fees and Toll Collection

Abu Dhabi Department of Traffic has also revealed the information about registration fees, toll fees and the fines for violating the new toll system rules. Motorists must know that they will need to pay AED 100 to get registered with the new toll system. From this amount, AED 50 will be charged as registration fee while the other AED 50 will be credited to the user’s account as a balance to pay tolls under the new system.

Road tolls will be collected from October 15, 2019 at designated locations across Abu Dhabi. Motorists will be charged AED 4 to cross the toll gates during peak hours. On the other hand, the toll system will deduct AED 2 from motorist’s account as toll fee for crossing the toll gate during non-peak hours. According to an announcement by the traffic authorities, the maximum toll fee that will be charged in a day is AED 16.

Fines for Violating New Toll System Rules

Abu Dhabi Department of Traffic has announced that motorists will face hefty fines if they drive an unregistered vehicle through the toll gates or violate other important rules.

Motorists will need to register with the new toll system within 10 days of crossing the toll gate. For not complying with this rule, motorists will have to pay AED 100 as fine for the first day, AED 200 for the second day, AED 400 for the third day and a maximum of AED 10,000.

Motorists will be given a five-day period to top up their toll account. If they don’t top up their account within this period, they will have to pay a fine of AED 50 per day. For Abu Dhabi vehicle owners, there is a relaxation in this rule as they will be able to pay their pending tolls at the time of annual vehicle registration renewal.

Bottom-line

The new toll system will be rolled out on all four locations heading to Abu Dhabi including Al Maqta Bridge, Musafah Bridge, Sheikh Zayed Bridge and Sheikh Khalifa Bridge.
