Fines Issued Against 4,738 Drivers by RAK Police in One Week

More than 4,000 drivers were fined by RAK police on traffic rules violations

A large number of traffic rules violations were recorded by Ras al-Khaimah police in just one week and 4,738 drivers got penalized for their reckless driving. RAK Police stated that driving violations were committed by careless drivers on multiple RAK roads and highways and some of them were penalized in absentia. The RAK traffic police is putting its best efforts to manage and reduce the traffic violations in its bid to provide best security to all motorists and pedestrians on road.

Traffic Violations Committed by Motorists

A number of serious traffic violations were recorded in just one week time which clearly showed the carelessness of drivers to follow traffic rules. As many as 51 drivers were booked for jumping red signal and a fine of Dh800, eight black points and 15 days impoundment of vehicle was imposed on them.

Listed below are the violations which involved most of drivers:

  1. Parking in a prohibited area
  2. Stopping the car in banned areas
  3. Over-speeding
  4. Ignorance of Mandatory Direction
  5. Jumping Red Signal

These are fatal violations and have caused a number of fatalities all over the UAE in recent past. The RAK police are applying best facilities to curb these violations and reduce them to minimum. During the week of Eid al-Fitr, over 40 patrols were deployed in the city to maintain the steady flow of traffic on roads. According to the RAK Police, 3,330 tickets were issued against the drivers in one week.

How the Violations were Caught

The official records suggest, out of 4,738 violations, 3,995 were caught by mobile radars fixed on city’s roads and highways. The RAK Police have installed Speed Radars on all important roads of city to record traffic violations. The quality of traffic signals had also been improved by authorities earlier and 10 new efficient radars have also been fixed that are able to record the video of every traffic violation. These radars have the 24 hour video recording capacity. All the serious violations can now be recorded through the latest radars deployed in RAK which has made life difficult for irresponsible drivers.
