Racing car Maserati MC12 Corsa ultra

While attending the Maserati Torfeo races in Abu Dhabi some weeks ago, we spotted a Maserati MC12 Corsa. And it was unbelievably gorgeous and unique piece of majestic design and power. Surely been the rarest kind of car in the race that time, looked completely different from other cars and quite speedy.

Actually Maserati got its own version of Ferrari Enzo back in 2005, which is called as the MC12. It was heavier and larger than the Enzo. It perfectly looked like the racing version of the car rather than street cars. The requirement for participation in the FIA GT is the availability of minimum 25 road cars which looks similar to racing cars. Maserati manufactured about 55 of the road supercars, but 4 of them were not available for sales for some reasons.

The MC12 specs include Enzo derived rear wheel drive carbon/aluminum/nomex platform, and have Enzo’s 6 liter V12 mated to a 6 speed semi automatic transmission, speed up to 620 hp and torque up to 652 N.  The runs per minutes add up to maximum of 7500 rpm. Compared to Ferrari’s 8200 rpm, but still it could go from 0 to 100 kph run in 3.8 seconds and can reach 200 kph in more 9.9 seconds having a maximum speed of 330 kph.

But our focus is on MC12 Corsa variant that released in 2006. It’s not for street riding, but only used for track use by rich owners. About 12 of them were manufactured and cost around $ 1.4 million each or about Dhs 5.5 million. About three of this model was manufactured for publicity and for testing purposed.

The Corsa was manufactured directly from MC12 GT1 racing car which won the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers cup. Maserati take care for its storage, upkeep and all maintenance of the cars, and they only took drive on specially made tracks. Its engine is a version of GT1’s, it’s available in a single Blue victory color. The color can be customized upon requests, as most of these model cars are also available in yellow color. It comes with steel/carbon racing brakes with no ABS aid and a different rear spoiler.

Middle East boss Umberto Cini used the yellow colored Corsa model car for the purpose to give passenger rides to guests in different races in U.A.E. And last thing is that you will never get to see it on streets because it’s only used in tracks.
