Quant F: Is this the future of the Electric Super Car?

One of the exceptional technologies in display at the Geneva Motor Show was the Quant F electric car displayed by nanoFlowcell AG. The car that can reach up to 300kmh features two tanks with differently ionized liquids that react chemically to power the electric motor. The Quant F, which the company is looking to roll into production, follows last year’s introduction of Quant E which has received car rating as roadworthy but has been put as a research vehicle.

With this flow cell technology, Quant F can store energy at higher density than regular batteries and can do a maximum distance range of 800km beating the new Audi new R8 e-tron. The battery also required only five minutes at a refueling station to be fully backed up. However, the manufacturer faces a challenge because car export statistics for this fancy Quant F needs to rely on country-specific infrastructure of electric cars recharge stations.

The Quant F is more than just energy, it is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 2.8 seconds, beating the record set by the new Ferrari 488 GTB. With a four people capacity and functionally controllable from a smartphone app, this car is probably one of the smartest technologies that were in display in Geneva. Alongside the Quant F, the company also displayed the Quantino concept which is of lower voltage and can do a maximum range of 1,000km but feature smaller tanks but similar technology.

The future of the electric car is still a challenging concept, not necessarily on technology but more on infrastructure. For this car to compete in the global car market, governments around the world need to believe in and invest in recharging fuel stations which is expected to happen in moderation.
