Porsche Classic, a division of Porsche that handles the maintenance of cars produced more than ten years ago has announced that the classics will receive a digital audio system. This may come as a surprise to many in the car market who believe that integrating modern digital systems to a classic is tantamount to destroying the initial design and pride associated with vintage collections.
The new Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System will be compatible with all cars produced way back to the mid-1960s and the controls will be based on the current Porsche Communication Management system. The audio will be controlled via the high definition 3.5 inch touchscreen or switches and buttons with the GPS navigation displayed on the screen. This new system perfectly integrates with modern smartphone technology with the ability to connect to external content sources via Bluetooth and also enables phone calls.
This new addition actually fits perfectly in the dashboard slot of all the vintage Porches and customers have a choice to fit it or maintain the original look. This integration of digital to analogue can be called a success as it has seamlessly fitted in without the possibility of affecting the aesthetics of the brand and it is expected to improve the car rating.
The Porsche Classic Division, which is responsible for technical information, supply and production of original spare parts for the wide dealership distribution around the globe has moved in to compete with other players in the market including Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz who have also given their vintage vehicles a super feel.
