No Road Deaths in Dubai during the Eid Al Adha Break

Dubai Traffic Police did not record any road death during the Eid Al Adha Holidays which is a result of strong patrolling of Police during the Eid Break. There were accidents recorded and injuries received by motorists but no injuries proved to be fatal. Traffic fatalities due to road accidents are a major concern in Dubai and other cities of the UAE and they occur mostly due to reckless behavior of some motorists. Traffic Patrolling all over the UAE had been increased during the Eid Break to ensure road safety on the joyful occasion of Eid.

Road Accidents Recorded During the Eid Break

A total of 28 road accidents were recorded during the Eid Break from 9th to 17th of September. According to Director of Dubai Traffic Police, Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, not a single road death had been recorded in the holidays. He told that one of the nine injuries recorded was of severe nature, six injuries were moderate and two injuries were minor. A significant decrease in the road accidents was observed in these Eid Holidays from last year’s Eid Al Adha Break. In 2015, 27 road accidents were recorded in which 23 people received injuries.

Calls Received by Control Room during the Eid Break

Dubai Traffic Police urges motorists to call the control rooms whenever they observe a road incident. But with that, the motorists have been instructed to call at 999 hotline only for emergencies and 901 for regular queries and situations which don’t relate to an emergency. A total of 49,404 phone calls were received by the Control room during Eid Al Adha Break which is more than double the calls received last year. In 2015, the control room received 20,354 calls. Due to more active patrolling, all road accidents were met in short time which minimized the chance of a possible road death.

No Road Death during the Eid Break is a Good Omen

It is a good sign for road and traffic authorities that their efforts paid off and there were no road deaths recorded during the Eid Al Adha Break. Motorists must also be given credit for being more vigilant in reporting road accidents which helped traffic authorities in reaching the area of accident quickly. It can certainly improve the traffic situation in Dubai and everywhere else in the UAE if motorists behave in a more responsible way throughout the year and avoid committing traffic violations.
