New UAE U-Turn Law and Traffic Violation Rules

The increase in the number of cars for sale in the world, has led to the rise of traffic congestion and traffic violation around the cities across the globe. This has instigated the Federal Traffic Council to make adjustments in the traffic rules governing the cars on the road. The fines to be paid the traffic rules offenders are to be raised in addition to implementing the law on the violation of U-turns or making them in an unauthorized areas. This new law will be called wrongful U-turning which will have a fine ranging between Dh200 and Dh300 with four black points.

The violation named vehicle for illegal purposes includes: using vehicles for illegal purposes, calling commuters and transporting them without permits. Drivers will be fined Dh1000 with six black points and impoundment of vehicle for a month. Making changes in colour, chassis and engine of used cars without permission are merged into one named making changes without permit which is fined Dh500. Driving without license or expired license will incur a fine of Dh500 with four points.

 All kinds of misuse of number plate will be fined Dh500 and four points while dangerous overtaking and overtaking from the right side will be one violation, with a fine of Dh600 and six points. Distracted driving violation will be fined of Dh1000. Failing to drive within lanes, hindering traffic and vehicle’s faulty lights will all be will be fined Dh400 in addition to four points. Some of the traffic violation fines have been increased to higher amount with the aim of emphasizing them. These include: not using a helmet has been increased to Dh 400, exceeding the number of passengers has been increased to Dh 500 and also driving without lights at night has been increased to Dh 500 from the previous Dh 200. Driving at speed lower than the minimum limit and using horn prohibited areas will incur Dh400 fine.
