New Survey by Consumer Reports Suggests EVs are More Dependable than Conventional Cars

Consumer Reports, a non-profit organization, has revealed the findings of its new testing and consumer survey that suggests electric vehicles (EVs) are more dependable than the conventional vehicles. As part of an effort to understand the functioning of EVs and conventional vehicles, how they fundamentally differ from each other and what factors could give a possible edge to one over the other, the automotive experts at Consumer Reports tested multiple electric vehicles and then compared the testing results with the consumer survey based on users’ experience of conventional vehicles. The results of this testing and consumer survey were supported by facts and technical data on the basis of which EVs were characterized as more dependable than the conventional vehicles by the automotive experts at Consumer Reports.

Detailed Results of the New Testing and Consumer Survey

The new testing and consumer survey conducted by Consumer Reports has revealed some interesting findings. In the first phase of this testing and consumer survey, electric vehicles were tested by Consumer Reports’ automotive experts.

In the second phase, a survey of 640,000 consumers revealed the problems they had faced with their conventional combustion engine vehicles. After analyzing their problems and test results of the electric vehicles, the Consumer Reports revealed that the EVs are more dependable than the combustion engine vehicles.

According to the testing and consumer survey, Chevrolet Bolt and all other high-end electric vehicles by renowned electric car manufacturers are inherently less complicated than the petrol or diesel vehicles. These vehicles don’t use mechanical parts such as spark plugs and filters that are prone to regular wear and tear and need to be replaced after a specific period of time. If these parts are not changed timely, the susceptibility of the traditional combustion engine vehicles to sudden breakdowns increases. This is the reason why combustion engine vehicles potentially demand frequent repair and maintenance jobs as compared to the EVs.

The mechanical parts of electric vehicles don’t deteriorate rapidly. This is why electric car owners face fewer mechanical problems as their vehicles grow old unlike the owners of conventional vehicles who start facing problems even in the first few years of the vehicle’s purchase.

Should You Buy an Electric Vehicle in the UAE?

Electric vehicles are not only more dependable than the conventional vehicles (as per the new survey by Consumer Reports), but they are also a fuel-efficient alternative to the combustion engine vehicles. Electric vehicles also ensure zero direct emissions, which adds to their value towards reducing the carbon footprint of a commuter, thus ensuring a cleaner environment.

Buying an electric vehicle is an ideal option for car buyers in the UAE because these vehicles can simply relieve motorists from the mounting pressure of fluctuating fuel prices. Fuel prices have been fluctuating in the UAE over the last two years, which has made it tough for motorists on a tight budget to manage their fuel expenses. Electric vehicles reduce the fuel expenses to a bare minimum because these vehicles use an electric motor that doesn’t require fuel to produce power.

There are many other benefits and incentives that the UAE Government is offering to the electric car owners and new electric car buyers as part of its long-term initiative to reduce carbon emissions from the environment.

Benefits and Incentive Offered to Electric Car Owners and Electric Car Buyers

There is a long list of benefits and incentives that the UAE Government offers to both the electric vehicle buyers and the existing EV owners to promote its initiative of gradually replacing conventional vehicles with EVs as the primary commute option.
