Motorists in RAK will need to be more watchful of their driving behavior now as new radars have been installed on major roads, which will record videos of traffic violations. The new radars are equipped with state-of-the-art traffic monitoring technologies to spot even the most minor traffic violations. These radars have been installed on multiple roads across Ras Al Khaimah to nab down traffic offenders and will help authorities in improving the road safety situation in the emirate.

Which Traffic Violations Can be recorded by New Radars?

The new radars in RAK will be able to spot and record videos of multiple traffic violations that have deteriorated the road safety situation in the emirate. These radars can record videos of following traffic violations:

  • Traffic signal violations
  • Failure to leave enough distance between vehicles
  • Driving on the hard shoulder
  • Sudden swerving
  • Speeding violations

In addition to recording the videos of these dangerous violations, the new radars in RAK can also monitor movement of heavy vehicles and record any lane indiscipline exhibited by heavy vehicle drivers. These radars can efficiently spot heavy vehicles on roads in prohibited timings, which has been a prevalent traffic problem in RAK. According to RAK Police, the newly installed radars in RAK will also be capable of identifying the difference in speed between the light and heavy vehicles.

Where are the New Radars Installed in RAK?

Among the 69 new radars installed across the emirate by RAK Police, 32 of them are mobile speed cameras. All these radars have been installed along the intersections of the Officers Club and near Post Office, Gulf Cinema, Immigration, Shamal, Nas Nas and Al Manar.

How the New Radars will Improve Traffic Monitoring in RAK?

The new traffic radars installed by RAK Police are equipped with advanced cameras and other monitoring devices to improve the surveillance of traffic, particularly during peak hours. The traffic authorities in RAK have been working on improving their traffic monitoring standards so that dangerous traffic violations can be monitored and offenders can be penalized more efficiently.

With the ability to record real-time traffic situation, the new radars will provide great support to authorities in identifying traffic offenders involved in dangerous traffic violations, especially those involved in run-over accidents. Other dangerous traffic violations such as tailgating, over-speeding and sudden swerving will also be monitored through these radars. Official Statement on the New Radars Installed in RAK

Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, Director General of the Central Operations Department, said that the new radars will improve the traffic monitoring standards of RAK Police and will monitor important locations in the emirate. He said that the “all new gadgets” can track and record multiple violations and are highly advanced in their functioning.

Motorists Need to Be More Proactive in their Approach

In October 2017, a motorist in RAK was fined AED 1 million for multiple violations, which was the highest fine ever conceded by a single driver in the UAE. All these violations were recorded by traffic monitoring radars in RAK and speeding was the most repeated violation committed by the motorist. This exhibited the advanced capabilities of radars in RAK to spot repeat traffic offenders. The new video recording radars have now increased the traffic monitoring capabilities of the RAK Police even further and motorists need to be more proactive in their approach to avoid traffic penalties.

The traffic penalties for dangerous traffic violations were increased in the UAE after the implementation of the new traffic law and with advanced surveillance and monitoring technologies, authorities have done everything to discourage motorists from committing dangerous traffic violations. Motorists must now be more careful as any reckless driving behavior can now be recorded more efficiently and motorists can face heavy penalties for dangerous traffic violations.
