Sharjah Police is all set to install new radars on key roads where an increase in traffic violations has been recorded recently. These new radars will be installed particularly to track speeding and tailgating violations as these were the most common violations recorded on many major Sharjah roads. Tailgating and over-speeding are among the most dangerous traffic violations that have caused maximum road fatalities not only in Sharjah, but across the UAE as well in recent past. The installation of new radars is aimed at improving and strengthening the traffic monitoring system to maximize road safety for all commuters.

Roads on Which the New Radars will be installed

Sharjah Police has revealed the details of the roads where the new radars will be installed. These roads include Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, Maliha Road and Al Dhaid Road. Sharjah Police had spotted maximum traffic violations on these roads since the start of 2017. The new radars will make it tough for reckless motorists to avoid hefty traffic penalties as these radars can catch the smallest of traffic violations even in the rush hours. Sharjah Police had earlier installed 30 new radars across the emirate in order to catch the reckless motorists and improve road safety situation.

Capabilities of New Radars to be installed on Sharjah Roads

New radars will be installed on Sharjah roads soon and these radars will have better specifications and improved monitoring capabilities than the existing radars on other roads. The new radars will have a tube like shape and will mainly catch the over-speeding motorists and aggressive tailgaters to reduce the threat of fatal traffic violations.

Although the primary purpose of installing the new radars on Sharjah roads is to catch the over-speeding and tailgating violations, but that doesn’t limit the capabilities of these new radars. The new radars to be installed in Sharjah are incredibly versatile and can do multitasking for efficient traffic monitoring.

Let’s explore some key capabilities of the new radars:

  • Ability to monitor multiple vehicles in multiple lanes at the same time.
  • Accurate identification of vehicles involved in traffic violations even if there are multiple vehicles shown in the photographic evidence.
  • Consistent tracking of inbound and outbound traffic for seamless monitoring.
  • Ability to work flawlessly during peak traffic hours.
  • Versatility to perform well even under difficult measurement settings.
  • Ability to track violations with variable speed enforcement for alternate lanes and different vehicle classes.
  • Recording of traffic violation and its live transmission.

These radars can also track other violations than over-speeding and tailgating so motorists need to be very careful as any inattentive driving behavior or careless driving approach can make them face some serious traffic penalties.

The new radars can also track the following violations:

  • Vehicles moving at a slower speed than the allowed minimum speed limit
  • Heavy vehicles not abiding by the lane discipline rule
  • Vehicles being driven on the hard shoulder
  • Heavy vehicles on the road outside their permitted timings
