2017 Toyota 86 received some minor handling updates along with some major updates to the dashboard. Although, anyone who has ever driven a Toyota 86 would think it needs to improve its handling, but Toyota believes that the new 2017 Toyota 86 needs an upgrade. This is the reason why the engineers at Toyota have brought some minor handling updates.

All Recent Updates to the 2017 Toyota 86

The Toyota 86 was taken to the Nürburgring 24 Hours race track where it was tested for multiple functions. During these trials, the Toyota engineers discovered some minor needs for improvement in the suspension and the chassis of the car. Before the car will be released in 2017, Toyota has added spot welds to the rear pillars, retuned the steering for a better responsive drive and revised and refreshed the damper valve structure.

In addition to these minor updates, the Toyota 86 is also getting a refreshed design with slight power upgrade as Toyota 86 will now have a 200hp Engine. A new steering wheel has been added to the cabin of the sporty coupe, Toyota claims that it is the smallest steering wheel they have added to a car. The alleged small steering wheel has a diameter of 14.25 inches.

Upgrades on the Dash

The dashboard receives some upgrades as well. There is a red redline at the top of the tachnometer which shows you if you are out of your lane, this feature will come in handy especially when you don’t want to take your eyes off the race track. Other than that, the right side of the dashboard also has a new TFT multi-function display which can display volt meters, oil temps, and G-Force, stopwatch and power curves.

The only thing missing is a turbo engine and if Toyota adds that, the 2017 Toyota 86 will become a great sports car with mind boggling features. As of now, the 2017 Toyota 86 has 6 speed transmission which is mated to a 2.0 liter, flat four engine.

Impact of 2017 Toyota 86 Updates

With these new updates, the 2017 Toyota 86 will have better stability and a much better control. It will respond to the driver and give an improved low-end acceleration. Since this is a rear wheel drive with a light weight body, the Toyota 86 can achieve maximum speed under any circumstance.
