The concept of these car models was first unveiled in the Suzuka Circuit during August 2013.
It is being said that all these three car manufacturing brands will be built on the same aerodynamics specifications and chassis as the Europe’s popular racing series namely “Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft.” The Lexus will be building, developing and producing its own 2000cc, inline 4-cylinder Turbo engine that will be inspired by the specification exclusive for Japan. Another interesting feature is that the engine of the car will be having a technological approach to contribute to the engine development along with securing power output as that of the existing 3400cc V8 engine. Moreover, the car will also be aligned with the most-recent developmental trend of being fuel efficient, light-weight and down-sizing. The car will be having technical specification same as that of the DTM. Basic differences will be kept in the air-conditioner, fuel filler opening and other similar functionalities.
Chairman of GTA, Masaaki Bandoh said that, “The regulation is a product of unprecedented method which organizing bodies and auto-makers of a racing series that has achieved success in Europe (DTM) and a Japanese racing series (SUPER GT) got together, discussed, and mutually provided knowledge and expertise. The vehicles you see here are genuine outcome of the approach.”
Getting back to the technical aspects of the car, it is being said that the car model will be containing a standardized monocoque of the SUPER GT instead of an imported one. This one is said to be manufactured by Toray Carbon Magic Co. Ltd. The head of motorsports department of Toyota Motor Corporation, Keizo Takahashi said that, “Our racing car is based on the ‘Lexus LF-CC’ which was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in September last year. LF-CC is a concept model of a 2-door, FR coupe, sporty entry car that is expected to join the Lexus lineup. It has achieved the environmental performance, globalization, and cost reduction in addition to the speed of traditional SUPER GT car.”
