The Mercedes Benz Viano is one of the elegant members of the commercial vehicle fleet from the German car maker. The manufacturer’s fleet received a higher car rating on adding these to what it offers to the car market.

The Viano has however been recalled numerous times by the car company due to different problems within the car. A minor recall – involving only 78 units – was initiated in 2007 over worries of a short circuit that might occur. Close to the exhaust runs the battery to starter motor cable. This arrangement increases the chances that the insulation of this cable might melt revealing the wire beneath.

In the same year, an almost identical number of units of the Viano were recalled due to a fuel leak that may spring up if the car is involved in an accident. The recent recall in 2015 involved units of the Viano that rolled off the production line between February and November of the previous year. The 5,259 units were recalled due to an ‘O’ ring on the diesel engines that may not have been produced to the correct specification. This may allow oil to leak and contaminate the environment. If excessive oil is lost engine damage may occur.
