KIA Sportage Recalled for Brake Light Related Problems

The aesthetics of the KIA Sportage garnered massive appeal for the model from the South Korean automobile manufacturer and as such set the automotive sale industry alight for them. The looks of their fleet was one factor that was sure to get one to whip out one’s cheque book and close the deal on the vehicle.

Like any other manufacturer and their products, not all that glitters is gold. There are always some gaps in the quality assurance and control system that let some glitches pass through the cracks and find their way into the hands of the individuals on the automotive purchase side of the commercial equation. As much as the car information may point to the fact that the car is always safe for the occupants, some may things point to the contrary.

One such thing is the continual failure of the brake light switch. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature; affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the park position.

A consequence of the above mentioned problem is that there can be unintentional movement of the car leading to increased chances of a crash.
