Sharjah police has been putting its best efforts to limit the traffic volitions in the city. The Sharjah Police has impounded hundreds of vehicles across Sharjah for violating the traffic rules in first three months of 2016. With that RAK (Ras Al Khaimah) police has also impounded number of vehicles in the same time.
Officials Statements on Impounded Vehicles
According to Brigadier Ghanim Ahmed Ghanim who is the Director General of Central Operation Department at RAK police, a total of 375 vehicles were seized as they were either not insured or had an expired maintenance and insurance policy.
Other 206 vehicles were impounded in Sharjah as the motorists of these cars violated some major traffic rules and 879 motorists were fined heavily for traffic violations as per the reports of the Traffic and Patrol Department of Sharjah Police.
According to the Acting Director of Traffic and Patrol Department at Sharjah Police, Major Mohammad Al Yai, violations that led to impounding of 206 vehicles were:
- Rash driving
- Failing to have license
- Putting in danger the lives of other
- Driving noisy vehicles
Fines for Driving Vehicle with Expired Insurance and Registration
A fine of Dh400 is charged to all those motorists who are found driving a vehicle with expired registration or insurance. The vehicle gets impounded if the expiry goes over three months. Not renewing the insurance policy and registration of the vehicle is considered as a serious offense in UAE and is dealt strictly.
