In an effort to promote the eco-friendly or environment-friendly car, Ajman announces free parking for eco-friendly cars amongst other benefits. This is to help maintain a healthy air quality in UAE, a representative from Dubai Municipality stated on Car Free Day that “Ajman got the honor of becoming the first Emirate offering the free parking facility to the electric cars.”
Other cities of United Arab Emirates have also stepped ahead in providing relaxations to environment-friendly cars in terms of free parking for them and other such benefits. It was announced in an exhibition held in Dubai for electric, solar and hybrid cars.
The Director of the Air Quality Department at the Ministry told the press that the recently renamed Ministry of Climate Change and environment is in talks with the local municipalities for bringing into play the incentives for the eco-friendly car owners; so that the number of such cars can be raised in the country.
“The Ajman Municipality was now offering free parking facility to eco-friendly cars all over Ajman.”
He told the media that Abu Dhabi and Sharjah were also agreed on providing free parking to such cars. The Road and Transport Authority of Dubai have agreed on issuing special parking approval and Free Salik Tags for the electric cars.
The overall procedure is going to take time and the implementation of all the regulations in this regard will be completed till mid-year. He told, the ultimate motive of this special campaign is to entice more people to buy eco-friendly cars.
UAE’s Acceptance for Electric Cars
The President of UAE’s Automobile and Touring Club Mohammed Ben Suleyman shed light on the fact that driving eco-friendly cars was a completely new phenomenon in UAE and that people are steadily accepting it. Mohammed Ben Suleyman was of the view that people will take time to get adjusted to driving these cars in the Emirates but the benefits associated with them are surely a way forward for all parties.
The Exhibition also displayed “Nur Majan” the first electric car originally engineered in Oman. The CEO of the Company Sultan Al Amri told everyone about the launch of the car in UAE Market in 2019.
