Ford’s all new the next-generation concept “Ford Edge” made its debut in Europe though Blue Oval’s “Go Further” event in Barcelona, Spain with the participation of more than 2,500 journalists, dealers and employees. In this spectacular event they also introduced the all new “Ka Concept” and the highly anticipated “2015 Ford Mustang”. Edge will be counted among other 25 brand new rides that Ford will launch in Europe car market in the next five years which is Ford’s one of the big ideas for Europe.
The 2015 Edge will feature an array of advanced automated driving technologies, including self-parking and obstacle avoiding systems with the help of their new ultrasonic sensors, Ford’s new range of Eco Boost engines and the fuel efficiency-improving active grille shutters. This Eco Boost engine claims to be more fuel efficient with a start-stop feature, Active Grille Shutters mechanically open and close technology to boost aerodynamic efficiency and to preserve ultimate engine operating temperature. This model also has the adaptive tour control, the blind spot car information system, lane keeping assist, cameras at all four corners and more.
The interior is embedded with leather, but think this way of course but for the basic versions of the production model. The same applies to the remaining frosting as the 10 inch touch screen in the interior. What lies beneath the hood, is still unknown.
The look of the Ford Edge is more macho and pretends to be a tough and smart runner. The exterior is painted in new Copper Flame, a modern execution of a premium color currently popular on Ford cars. The dash and steering wheel are wrapped in hand-stitched leather giving the cabin an upscale appearance and feel. A 10-inch touchscreen dominates the center stack and is equipped with Ford SYNC with Voice Control. Bright work on the door handles, armrests and air vents, along with Copper accents that match the exterior paint, offer a contrasting element to the interior. The LED lights are used wisely on both head lamps and the tail lamps and it also has individual LED lights to bling the very beautiful yet shiny crystal cubes on high stream of light. This car can be a real tough competitor in Europe car market.
Ford executive vice president of Europe, Stephen Odell said “The all-new Ford Edge Concept gives consumers in Europe a tantalizing glimpse of the upscale Ford SUV experience that’s waiting just around the corner”. He also said “We are seeing strong demand for high quality products that confer status, and give a greater sense of freedom and confidence on the road.”
Ford appears to be making good on its promise of “an upscale, large SUV” for the European market. It’s unclear at this point how many of the features of the Edge Concept will make it into production, but Ford clearly wants the production Edge to “meet and exceed expectations in this growing segment”.
