FIA Region I President Pay UAE a Visit

The Automobile & Touring Club of UAE (ATCUAE) hosted a meeting with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Region I officials in Dubai, UAE. Attending the meeting was FIA Region I President Mr Werner Kraus and Director General of the FIA Region I Mr Jacob Bangsgaard, and Mr David Joroge Director General of the Automobile Association of Kenya. FIA Region I is responsible for the mobility activities of the FIA in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, supporting more than 100 Automobile Clubs in the region from its new headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

 

Aside from sporting activities, the ATCUAE’s mobility activities include the provision of such services as the issuing of international driving permits, Carnets de Passage (the international customs document which covers the temporary admission of motor vehicles), and international certificates for the temporary import of vehicles. ATCUAE President & Chairman of The Arab Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTAC) Mohammed Ben Sulayem, spoke of this by saying “just like motorsports, tourism & mobility is a very important activity for ATCUAE, and the visit of the President of Region I which is responsible for mobility demonstrates ATCUAE’s commitment towards mobility not just within the UAE but also towards the agenda of ACTAC.”

 

The meeting was held to discuss several important matters, including an overview of the ATCUAE activities, including the initiatives of the sporting division, along with the findings of research studies conducted on various topics. In addition there was a review of the mobility division engagements and future plans, and a tour of the new ATCUAE technical center.

 

Other discussions covered the objectives of The Arab Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTAC), whose goal is to unite the Arabic speaking FIA clubs of the region to shape the future of motoring throughout the Arab world. The meeting contained a review of all ACTAC activities, regulations, training workshops, and future plans.
