According to a statement issued by Dubai Customs announced that Dubai got the top in attracting auto spare parts trade to become a regional and international center of the major cooperation shown to dealers and investors at all of Dubai Customs ports, together with the logistic services that support automotive spare parts at storage and transport operations level.

The latest figures of Dubai Customs, in conjunction with Automechanika Exhibition being hosted by the Emirate from 11th to 13th June, showed that Dubai’s auto spare parts foreign trade was valued at Dh 7 billion in 2012, an increase of Dh8 billion as compared to Dh29 billion in 2009.

The auto spare parts market continued to rise, reaching Dh32 billion in 2010 and Dh36 billion in 2011, most of which is made up from export and re-export activities, taking up the major share of foreign trade.

Japan is deemed to be Dubai`s top trade partner in spare parts and accessories, claiming 28% of the imports market share with a value of Dh6.1 billion, followed by China with a share of Dh2.8 billion, then South Korea having a share to the value of Dh2.3 billion.

At the export and re-export level, Saudi Arabia topped the list with a share amounting to 11%, equivalent to Dh1.6 billion, followed by Afghanistan in the second place with a share of 5%, then the Sultanate of Oman with a share of 4%.

The statistics show that Dubai plays an essential role in linking between countries of export and import of automotive spare parts and accessories, together with the significance of UAE markets for automotive spare parts, which import the greater percentage of their goodsthrough Dubai.
