Most of the busiest cities in the world today face common problems attributed to the increase in cars like traffic congestion and limited parking lots among others which were all that an issue in the car history when car production was low. However, in a city like Abu Dhabi, where people prefer sport-utility vehicles, vans and pickup trucks to the small cars in the car market, the owners of small cars complain of being squeezed in parking spaces. These small car owners complain that drivers of big cars tend to take up two or more spots to avoid dents, door bumps and scratches. There is a large number of SUVs in UAE that include a Toyota Tundra which is 582cm long 203cm wide and a GMC Yukon XL  which is 569cm long 204 cm wide.

These kind of monster trucks fit in the parking lots but a limited space will be left for other car to park in the same parking lots. The number of vehicles able to park in any given facility would be reduced by approximately 15 per cent, causing a shortage of parking slots, inconveniencing and potential loss of revenue for mall parking owners. Mall owners and municipalities are advised to provide a few super-sized slots in parking areas on the ground level for large cars which could reduce congestion within the car park areas. This kind of offer can be done at an extra premium rate to discourage the SUVs parking in the busy areas.

Though some drivers believe that having difficulties in parking is simply down to the driver saying that they are not properly trained to steer in narrow mall parking spots. Due to space problems in big cities, almost all malls have smaller parking spaces than open public parking lots but they are sufficient to park.
