We missed out on covering this, well, “thing” during the Dubai Motor Show, but figured we should at least give it some column inches, if only because it is intended to grab headlines. This here is the Devel Sixteen, with a “Made in Dubai” tag and a claim of 5000 horses!
The Devel Sixteen is a supercar concept, with imaginary figures attached to it, such as a 5000 hp quad-turbo V16 engine, a 0-100 kph time of 1.8 seconds, and a top speed of only 560 kph. The interesting part is that the concept actually runs, although it is unknown what’s really powering the display car under that skin.
But there’s more! The makers say the car’s been in secret development since 2006! And it’s a prototype aimed at breaking records! And it will go into production in 16 months! Of course, it’s mysteriously popped up just before the Expo 2020 vote, alongside those Dubai Police supercars. But if a Dubai-based company building their first hypercar — 5 times more powerful than a Bugatti and faster than what any current tyres can handle — actually manages to do so by 2015, then the next Dubai Motor Show will be a much more interesting event.
