CES has witnessed the latest car models and technologies in the automotive world.  Chevrolet bragged about its  2015 model in this show, just a week after Chevrolet has detailed its new 2016 Volt. Some major improvements has tackled  the 2016 model in comparison to its predecessor. Its electric battery is lighter and bigger than the previous model, increasing its capacity from 17.1 kWh to 18.4 kWh.

However, what is really impressive about the new Chevy is its new Volt’s range . For previous models, drivers were able to go 38 miles on electric power, now with the 2015 model they are able to go 12 miles extra. Meaning they can travel 50 miles on electric power alone. According to the company, it is expected that the Volt can -on average- travel more than 1,000 miles before the need to fill up  gas tanks.

Chevrolet followed simple physics in its new car design, it decreased the car weight by two ways. First of all, it used a revised battery tech  which made the propulsion system 21 pounds lighter. The second way is reducing the weight of the  two-motor drive unit by 100 pounds from the weight of its 2015 model. It further increased the engine efficiency as the car’s two engines can combine to make it more limber than before. According to Volt’s manufacturers the 2016 Volt has 19% stronger 0-to-30 mph acceleration.

The external look for Volt is mainly inspired by “the toned physiques of athletes.” Though it looks more like a five-door sedan, the new model has some pretty aesthetic touches, including a battery charge indicator placed on the windscreen, plus an illuminated charging socket in order to plug in the car when it is dark.

Chevrolet shared a YouTube ad last week about it’s second-generation Chevrolet Volt which is most likely to be the most technologically advanced production car that General Motors has ever announced . The ad is really simple targeting to appeal to the middle-of-the-road, everything should be “normal,” consumers that make up the majority of the car’s market.
