As reported by the Emirati news agency WAM, traffic crashes have been cut down owing to a safety campaign launched in the emirate of Ajman.
The official report reveals that the number of pedestrians being run over in the emirate has fell off by 7 percent.
According to Brigade Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Deputy Commander of Ajman Police, there were 199 serious accidents in the previous year.
There were 92 accidents last year in which someone was hit by a vehicle, compared with 99 in 2012.
Fewer on-the-spot tickets were issued to drivers – 59,593, a slight decrease from the previous year.
Offences detected by radars fell by 6 per cent, while impounded vehicles – about 4,090 – rose by 2 per cent.
The number of revoked licenses fell by 44 percent, from 430 in 2012 to 242 last year.
And there were 17,030 new cars on Ajman’s roads last year from 13,849 the previous year.
Brig. Al Nuaimi pointed out that 33 high-tech speed cameras had been fixed up on Ajman’s roads, with plans for more on the Sheikh Khalifa and Sheikh Ammar bridges.
He declared that Ajman Police were working all its utmost to deliver the highest rates of safety to road users.

History:
On 8 January 1820, Sheikh Rashid II ibn Humayd Al Nuaimi signed the General Maritime Treaty with Britain, accepting a protectorate to keep the Ottoman Turks out. Like four of Ajmān’s neighbors, Sharjah, Dubai, Ras al-Khaimah and Umm al-Qaiwain, its position on the route to India made it important enough to be recognized as a salute state.
On 2 December 1971, Sheikh Rashid IV ibn Humayd Al Nuaimi joined the United Arab Emirates.
