The Automobile and Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE) in conjunction with the FIA Institute held its inaugural Train the Trainer program at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi for the senior officials who are involved in the organisation and administration of motor sport in the UAE.
The officials, representing all disciplines of motor sport from karting, rallying and race activities and from different venues around the country including the Dubai Autodrome and the Al Ain Raceway, were taken on a workshop to refine their skills by The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) at this magnificently designed race circuit.
CAMS, who are recognised internationally for their extensive experience and training competency, provided five very experienced trainers to travel from Australia to help develop the skills set of these senior motor sport officials as it is essential to have all of the top personnel trained to the highest degree.
Speaking after the workshop, ATCUAE President Mohammed Ben Sulayem commented, “We are delighted that CAMS could contribute and share their knowledge with our senior officials. I would like to thank the FIA Institute for their assistance and guidance in creating another milestone in the development of motor sport here in the UAE and I would encourage other ASN’s to use the FIA Institute to help train their own officials”
The aim of the ‘Train The Trainer’ programme was to pro-actively enhance the knowledge and leadership skills of fifty-six cosmopolitan leading motor sport officials in the UAE using a wide range of different learning activities. The FIA Institute encourages other ASN’s to make use of this facility and train their senior officials with experienced trainers from their appointed Gold Level ASN’s.
It is a challenge to motor sport in the UAE to have all their officials trained to the highest degree and so with the aid of CAMS knowledge, the ATCUAE can continue to train their own senior marshals to this standard to ensure and enhance the safety at over 140 of the motor sport events in the UAE including the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
