The Ministry of Economy held a meeting with the committee of cars in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in order to discuss the high price of automotives maintenance at the dealerships in the state and the ways of reducing these prices. The Ministry of Economy stressed that it is not legal for the agencies of automotives to force the consumers to do maintenance for their cars each 5000 kilometers. The Ministry mentioned that it will make inspection campaigns on all the parts stores to make sure of the legal status of their work where these stores are representatives of the original brands that they sell theirspare partsand the Ministry had formed a committee to monitor the brands of vehicles and another committee to examine the defective ones.
Dr.Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of the Consumer ProtectionDepartment at the Ministry of Economy said that the ministry has received several complaints from many consumers about the high price of their cars maintenance as well as some cars agencies are obliging consumers to so a maintenance every 5000 kilometers. Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimiconfirmed that it is not right that agencies compels consumers with the maintenance work for their car every 5000 km and these agencies should give the choice for the customers to do a maintenance every 5000 kilometers or every 10 thousand kilometers. He pointed out thatthe ministry has receivedmany complaints in this regard from many consumers during the last period.
He mentioned that the ministry has formed a committee to monitor the brands of cars after it got some information that some partsshops exploit some of the brands names of Japanese and European cars and put these brands names on their banner to convince people that this store is a legal agent for these global brands where this considers a violation of the law and the committee will take a lot of procedures against these stores. He stated that the ministry will do extensive inspection campaigns on thestores of spare parts to check whether the parts they sell are original or fake as well as to verify whether these storeshave certified permits from the original cars agencies to sell these spare parts. Also, the committee will check the level of servicequality offered to consumers. These procedures will ensure that the customer will get the best service ever in addition to ensure that all the cars agencies are working according to the law in the state.
