How often is it that you see a car entering the GCC car market, becoming a stereotype and going completely unnoticed by anyone? One of the best examples that can be used is a brand known as MG, which when not abbreviated, it means Morris Garages.
The 350 is obviously just MG’s idea of the market for compact sedans, which is mostly constituted of vehicles such as the Nissan Tiida and Toyota Corolla in the GCC market. You will find that the 350’s exterior is very pleasing, while the car seems to have a very solid build. For instance, the body panels of the car are the perfect fit and the car doors tend to make that same “thump” as all Toyotas within this class. There is only a single variant for sale in Oman, with 16 inch alloys and fog lamps.
The interior of the car has a very decent look to it; however, it’s aristocratic looks may get on the boring side now and then. Most likely a driver would spending a great amount of their time messing with the touch screen DVD system. The interior is mostly consisted of hard plastics; however, the armrests and upper part of the dash are scarcely padded. As for the dash, you will find it to be rather dull, only to possess a few buttons that are dedicated to the entertainment system and automatic A/C. You will find there is a fake carbon fiber strip that runs the entire length of the dash; however, if you choose to do so, you can switch that for fake wood.
The technology within the car is fairly upper class considering the market and price. The car comes with rear parking sensors and a transposing camera interspersed with the previously mentioned 7 inch screen DVD system, which you will also find equipped with video and audio inputs, support for Bluetooth as well as an XBM premium audio system that is something to love.
The MG has a fair amount of space in the back seat, enough in which you can fit three full-sized adults comfortably. The head room is great as well, and all of the seats are comfortable and covered in leather.
Talking about the important features, the MG 350 is equipped with a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engine that can produce a tight-fisted 107 horsepower and 135 Nm of torque. On top of this, the car is driven by means of a 4 speed automatic. The car can accelarate to the 100 kph mark in about 11 seconds; however, the noise that you hear is more of an enjoyment than annoyance.
In conclusion, the MG 350 is clearly meant for younger drivers in their first run; however, it’s an appropriate enough car for the GCC market, despite it’s origination being from China.
