Volkswagen XL1 in a private visit to the Middle East

The most advanced car in the world in terms of efficiency technology which is the Volkswagen XL1 arrived to the Middle East in an exclusive visit. The style of the revolutionary XL1 model which began as a feature vision of the Volkswagen Company in 2002 has now become a reality. Volkswagen Company has built only 200 vehicles of this model which only two of them arrived to the United Arab Emirates on a private visit for 6 days and the Volkswagen XL1 presented to the public in the official agents exhibitions for Volkswagen in Dubai and Abu Dhabi till January 25, 2014.

The XL1 model succeeded to highlight the company’s commitment in providing a vehicle that provides the perfect combination of fuel efficiency and driving pleasure. The super light design technology plus the ideal aerodynamics techniques and the hybrid system components which consist of a TDI engine with two cylinders and an electric engine in addition to the dual transmission gearbox and lithium battery gives the XL1 model the ability to challenge the laws of physics.

The new car carries the XL1 name and it characterized like most of the modern cars with a structure which is very light where it made of carbon fiber which makes the car weigh is 795 kilograms and it is designed in this way to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the air resistance. To increase the flow of the car, its rear tires was covered with a very light metal and the side mirrors have been removed and replaced with a camera which transfers the image to the driver in the control panel inside the car. The car is working with two engines where the first engine works with diesel with two cylinders and the other one is an electric engine. The maximum speed of the car is 160 km / h and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.9 seconds.

The Volkswagen XL1 car is characterized by a very low rate of carbon emission compared to the cars that are available in the market today where its emissions of carbon dioxides about 24 grams per kilometer when consuming 0.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. Thomas Mills, Managing Director of Volkswagen Middle East said: “The vision of Volkswagen Company was always very keen to produce a practical Volkswagen car for daily use which consumes 0.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers and the new XL1 car is the most environmentally, friendly and fuel-efficient car in the world today and it keeps the element of driving pleasure which is the key of our brand”.
