The Kuwaiti driver “Zeed Ashkanani” added to his growing career another victory in Porsche GT3 Middle East championship at the international Bahrain ring where he achieved two positions in the two opening rounds. For the third and fourth round, the young driver went to Dubai Autodrome ring and he was looking forward to continue with the best start initiated by him this season and he tried to stay very close from the rank of the Austrian champion “Clemens Schmid”.
Before the two rounds in Dubai, he said: “I can’t imagine that this season can begin better than now. I was very happy before with my performance but I want to increase my performance to get better results. Schmid was the fastest driver so far in the two rounds of Bahrain but I have to make sure that I’ll continue with this performance in Dubai and I have to make the best preparations for my car to keep up with Schmid”. Walter Leckner, director of “Porsche GT3 Middle East” championship said: “I was always believed that Zeed Ashkanani can be in the top three and he started this season perfectly”. He added: “I think he needs to show consistency in the next round and prove that these results were not just a fluke”.
Global elite of 20 drivers from 11 different countries participated in the championship and some of these countries are UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Germany. The competition was very exciting to reduce the difference with Clemens Schmid who won the two opening rounds of the fifth season on the international Bahrain ring.
It is true that Dubai Autodrome ring is one of the newest and most difficult rings and it has a mix of narrow paths and high-speed curves with a length of 4.3287 km. Leckner commented on this and he said: “The championship opening round was evidence that this race is the best tournaments in the region”. Before the race, Leckner said: “We have seen the enthusiasm and excitement in both rounds in Bahrain and Clemens Schmid showed his impressive speed but I’m looking forward to the performance of the new drivers especially “Al Maktoum” who will be at his country in the next race and he has shown promising capabilities already and I see that he needs to continue this stunning performance that we have seen in Bahrain”.
