Details of Warning Issued by Authorities
According to Abu Dhabi Police, motorists who violate parking rules not only increase the risk of serious traffic congestion but also block the way of emergency vehicles, which can have dangerous consequences. Maitha Mohammad Bin Adai, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency said that the new parking system makes use of ground sensors and digital cameras to detect vacant parking spaces and transmits the information instantly to the central system. This information is then displayed onto the information signboards and RTA’s Smart App to help motorists park their vehicles easily. She said that the new system will save about eight minutes of motorists while searching for a vacant parking slot.
Authorities have also revealed that the new parking system will help improve the quality of air in Dubai. The Smart Parking System will help motorists find a parking slot quickly and by restricting the movement of vehicles to find a parking slot, the system will curb up to 239 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
