The Dubai Police has decided to move eight commonly used traffic-related services to digital platforms. This major development is part of the efforts made by traffic authorities to improve the quality and convenience in the services offered to motorists.

Starting April, motorists will be able to avail many important traffic-related services through e-platforms, smart applications and other digital channels. Authorities have revealed that 80% of the traffic-related services were provided through digital platforms in 2018 and the digital transformation of traffic-related services will continue in 2019. The first phase of smart transformation of services will kick off in April and the second phase will begin in July this year.

Details of the Services that will be moved to Digital Platforms

The traffic authorities in Dubai moved several important services to digital platforms in July last year. The new announcement to move eight more services to digital platforms is the continuation of efforts made by authorities to offer the most state-of-the-art facilities to motorists in Dubai.

Given below are the services that will be provided through digital platforms starting next month:

  • Payment of traffic fines
  • Applying for converting payments into installments
  • Issuance of reports of traffic accidents in which injuries were not reported
  • Issuance of lost traffic reports
  • Issuance of traffic accident reports against an unknown person
  • Issuance of traffic status certificates
  • Issuance of traffic clearance certificates
  • Issuance of a list of traffic violations

There are multiple online channels through which motorists will be able to avail these services from April 2019, however, it must be noted that these services will no longer be available at customer centres of Dubai Police. Authorities have also announced that motorists will be able to make payments through smart kiosks that can be seen in shopping malls across Dubai.

Brig Khalid Nasser Al Razzouqi, Director-General of Artificial Intelligence explained that the payments for traffic fines and other services can also be made at money exchange centres.

He said that the authorities had successfully migrated most of its important services to digital platforms last year. The response of motorists was a welcoming one as 2 million transactions were completed online. He added that Dubai Police will also facilitate motorists who want to learn the use of smart platforms in order to make this transition smooth and convenient for them.

Col Juma Bin Suwaidan, Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic said that the next phase of smart transformation of traffic-related services will kick off in July this year and four more services will be moved to digital platforms.
