Significance of the New Helpful Initiative by RTA

RTA has collaborated with Dubai Commercial Bank to provide motorists with a much-needed financial relief. Motorists can now pay their traffic fines in instalments, which is one of the several recent initiatives taken by RTA. From taking necessary measures to improve road safety situation in the emirate to finding innovative ways of facilitating car owners with the most state-of-the-art licensing and registration services, RTA has been on the forefront of initiatives taken for the well-being of its customers in Dubai.

The new service for paying fines in instalment will help motorists the most who were booked for committing traffic violations that have hefty fines in the UAE. Traffic fines were increased in the recently amended traffic law to discourage motorists from committing dangerous traffic violations. Speeding is one of the most frequently committed traffic violations in Dubai that can incur a heavy fine of AED 3,000 on the offender. Motorists can face different speeding fines based on the amount of over-speeding committed above the maximum speed limit of a road.

The table below shows the new speeding fines:

Traffic Penalties for Over-speeding Violations

Traffic fines for most of the dangerous traffic violations were increased in the amended traffic law including lane swerving, tailgating and jumping the red signal amongst others. Motorists who have been booked for these violations and have pending traffic fines will now be able to pay these fines in easy instalments. This is a significant development as increased fines for dangerous violations had added immense financial pressure on motorists to pay their fines timely.

Bottom-line

The instalment offer on traffic fines is not new for Dubieties as RTA and Dubai Police have previously provided this facility to motorists. However, this is the first time that RTA has offered an instalment plan on traffic fines exclusively for credit card holders of Dubai Commercial Bank. Motorists should now avail this opportunity without wasting any time to avoid consequences of not paying traffic fines timely.
