The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has taken a new initiative to facilitate owners of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in Dubai. The modern-day transport and licensing authority has introduced a vehicle-based charging station that will provide emergency recharging service to the owners of electric vehicles. Motorists will be able to avail this new service anywhere in Dubai and it will enable them to continue their journey to reach the nearest electric charging station.

The new initiative to launch a mobile charging station for EVs is in line with the theme of “Green Economy for Sustainable Development” and is expected to encourage more people to buy EVs.

Official Statement on the Launch of Mobile Charging Station for EVs

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA launched the mobile charging station for EVs. According to her, the launch of the mobile charging station will encourage more people to shift from their conventional combustion engine vehicles to the environment-friendly EVs.

The mobile charging station was on display at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2018, which ran between October 23, 2018, and October 25, 2018, at World Trade Centre Dubai. Mattar Al Tayer said that the mobile charging station is an important component of the UAE Green Development Strategy.

Mentioning how the mobile charging station will work, Mattar Al Tayer explained that the vehicle-based charging station will travel to help motorists recharge their vehicles wherever they need it in Dubai. This will enable motorists to reach the nearest charging station to fully recharge their vehicle. By launching this new initiative, the primary goal of authorities is to promote the sales of EVs that ensure zero emissions.

Buying an Electric Vehicle in the UAE

Fuel prices have been fluctuating in the UAE for more than three years and these fluctuations have added to the financial worries of motorists on a tight budget. In 2018, fuel prices have increased to a record-breaking level, which has made it extremely difficult for motorists on a tight budget to manage their fuel expense.

In such circumstances, it can be an excellent decision to shift from a combustion engine vehicle to an electric vehicle. Electric vehicles generate power from electric batteries and don’t need conventional fuel at all. In this way, motorists on a tight budget can get the much-needed relief from their financial worries by buying an EV in the UAE.

Buying an EV can be a beneficial decision for motorists in the long-term as they will not have to worry about the fluctuations observed in fuel prices. Additionally, motorists will also be able to benefit from the facilities offered to EV owners in the UAE.

Affordable Electric Vehicles Available in the UAE

The eco-friendly electric vehicles are exceptionally versatile and innovative, yet these vehicles can be purchased at affordable prices. Electric vehicles are now available in the UAE in all vehicle segments including hatchback, sedan, SUV and crossover. The vast variety of options for every price range provides the freedom of choice to car buyers to decide in favor of a particular vehicle according to their requirements and budget.

Bottom-line

With the launch of the new mobile recharging station for EVs and by offering many other such initiatives to EV owners, the authorities in Dubai and across the UAE are emphasizing the use of cleaner energy sources to improve the air quality of the UAE. EVs can be an excellent alternative to combustion engine vehicles, not only because EVs are eco-friendly vehicles, but also because they help motorists get rid of their financial worries related to fluctuating fuel prices in the UAE.

Air pollution can decrease significantly with more EVs replacing combustion engine vehicles on the UAE roads and this is what the UAE government aims to achieve in the coming years.
