How dangerous is the New Kiki Dance Challenge?

Some of the “Kiki Dance Challenge Fail” videos available on social media clearly highlight the safety risk associated with this dangerous dance challenge. Primarily, the idea of jumping out of a moving car is not safe at all, neither for the driver of the car nor for the one who is going to attempt the challenge. The distracted attention of the driver can result in a fatal collision with another vehicle or a hard physical object on the road. On the other hand, the Kiki dance performer can also collide with a vehicle or a hard object.

Some of the Kiki dance videos on social media have also shown drivers hitting into their own vehicles while attempting the Kiki challenge. The entire practice is seriously dangerous and this is the reason why traffic authorities in the UAE have announced hefty penalties for Kiki dance performers.

How have the Traffic Authorities planned to Penalize Kiki Dance Performers?

Authorities have warned motorists of serious penalties for performing Kiki dance on the UAE roads. The warning comes in wake of many videos posted on social media showing drivers getting out of their vehicles and performing Kiki dance on the UAE roads. The UAE authorities have also issued arrest warrants against three famous social media influencers who had posted their own Kiki challenge videos on social media.

Authorities have clearly explained that Kiki dance, or any other such activity, is deemed against the morals and traditions of the society and offenders can face serious penalties according to the traffic law of the country. While explaining how authorities have planned to penalize the offenders, Colonel Saeed Obaid bin Aran, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at the Umm Al Quwain Police, said that the vehicle involved in the Kiki Dance Challenge will be impounded for 60 days while motorists will face fines and black points.

Motorists performing Kiki dance will face penalties for three different traffic violations at the same time. These three violations include endangering the lives of others, causing a traffic jam and using a mobile phone while driving. Motorists involved in this offense will be penalized with a hefty AED 2,000 fine and 23 black points, which can lead to the suspension of their driving license for one year. The Ras Al Khaimah Police has also issued a strict warning against performing the Kiki dance on roads and called this trend a “serious traffic violation.”
