The Abu Dhabi Traffic Court has announced a significant reduction in traffic fines and parking violations in the emirate. This new initiative is aimed at the well-being of motorists and is part of the efforts made by authorities to provide relief to motorists who are under serious pressure of paying their outstanding fines.

Lately, authorities have adopted a tougher stance to discourage motorists from committing dangerous violations, however, they have also taken initiatives to make life easier for motorists who have pending traffic fines. Details of the Reduction in Traffic Fines

The traffic and parking fines have been reduced by 25% as per the announcement of Abu Dhabi Traffic Court. Authorities have clearly pointed out that reduction in traffic and parking fines will only be valid for violations committed in the areas of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. All other adjoining areas or emirates are exempted from this waiver in traffic and parking fines. There is a step-by-step procedure that needs to be followed in order to complete the application process and motorists must fulfil all the requirements to be deemed eligible for the 25% reduction in their pending fines.

How to Apply for a Reduction in Pending Fines?

The process of applying for the reduction in fines involves transferring the traffic violations committed by motorists to the court for prosecution. Motorists need to first visit the fines department at the Customer Happiness Centre of Abu Dhabi Police with their driving license, Emirates ID and car registration documents. There, the concerned officer will print a list of unpaid fines against the name of the motorist who will then be asked to fill out a form to transfer the violations to the Traffic Court.

The next day, applicants will need to head over to the Traffic and Patrols Directorate and visit the main building to confirm that their application has been received by the authorities. Motorists will then be asked to take their documents to the branch of Traffic Court located inside the directorate. After the prosecution of their violations to avail the 25% discount on fines, motorists will have to pay their pending fines and collect the receipt. Motorists will then need to submit this receipt to Police in order to remove violations from their traffic record.

Motorists can visit the Traffic Court from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The average number of prosecutions carried out in a day is 320 so motorists can easily avail this opportunity and get their fines removed by 25% in the same day without any hassle.
