Dubai Police has released mid-year traffic stats to provide detailed information about the major traffic problems of the emirate. Earlier, Dubai Police released stats that clearly highlighted the most frequently committed traffic violations in the emirate and authorities have now released data about the most dangerous roads of Dubai based on the number of accidents recorded during the first six months of 2018.

Following were the five most dangerous roads of Dubai during the first half of the year:

Emirates Road

This is one of the busiest roads in Dubai as it acts an alternate to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed Road. The Emirates Road emerged to be the most dangerous road in Dubai during the first half of 2018 as it recorded 14 fatalities in 30 dangerous road accidents.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road

Originally designed by Dubai Municipality and redeveloped by RTA, the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road plays the key role of streamlining flow of heavy traffic near Dubai-Sharjah border. It was the second most dangerous road during the first six months of 2018 as it recorded 8 deaths in 72 major road accidents.

Sheikh Zayed Road

Sheikh Zayed Road is an extension of E 11 highway in Dubai and connects the emirate to Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah. This road is the main artery of the emirate’s traffic and was formerly known as Defence Road. During the first half of 2018, the Sheikh Zayed Road recorded 8 deaths and 69 major road accidents.

Dubai-Al Ain Road

Fourth on the list is the Dubai-Al Ain Road that connects Dubai to the interior of Al Ain in the Abu Dhabi city. This major road has been quite infamous for dangerous road accidents in the past as well and it was no different during the first half of 2018. The Dubai-Al Ain Road recorded 4 deaths in 26 serious road accidents during this period.

Al Khail Road

Connecting Dubai to the town of Hatta and also connecting the UAE with Oman, Al Khail road (E 44) is one of the most important roads in the UAE. During the first half of 2018, the Al Khail Road recorded 3 fatalities in 34 road accidents.
