The schedule for the 99th RTA Open Auction has been announced and it will be held at the Westin Hotel, Al Habtoor City on May 12, 2018. The auction will start at 4:30 PM and the registration for interested bidders has already opened. The upcoming event will be the 99th marquee event by RTA and 80 special number plates will be offered at the upcoming auction, which will feature some exciting codes such as T 80000, T 2222, O 888 and F 55 to name a few. The interested bidders can get themselves registered to get an opportunity to bid for their favorite number plate at the auction.

VAT to be added to the Price of the Number Plate
It must be noted that 5% Value Added Tax (VAT) will be applied to the number plates sold at the auction. VAT has been implemented in the UAE from the start of 2018 and is now applicable on all business and commercial activities.

How to Register for the 99th RTA Open Auction?
As mentioned earlier, the registration for 99th Open Auction has already opened and bidders can take part in the auction by completing all the necessary requirements. For participation in the event, the interested bidders need to have a traffic file in Dubai. The bidder needs to deposit a cheque of worth AED 25,000 as a security deposit, which can be redeemed later if none of the bids made by a bidder are successful. The subscription fee for the event is AED 120 and interested bidders can pay the initial deposit and subscription fee through the RTA website www.rta.ae using their credit cards.
Interested bidders can also submit a cheque number through the website, however, they will need to provide the cheque to the staff on the auction day. The registration for the Open Auction can be made on the same day of the event between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The successful bidders must clear their payments within 10 days of the Open Auction. A failure to clear payments in time will result in cancellation of the bid while the name of the bidder will be blacklisted. A bidder can place a bid for as many number plates as per preference, which adds to the flexibility in options offered to bidders at the number plate event.
A Lucky Draw for the Attendees of the Event
The number plate enthusiasts will be delighted to know that RTA has announced that a draw will also be held at the 99th Open Auction for the exclusive plate Q 725 and all the attendees of the event excluding the RTA’s employees will be made part of this draw.

The Director of Vehicle Licensing at RTA Licensing Agency, Sultan Al Marzooki said that open auctions offer more excitement, more surprises and an action-packed atmosphere, which adds to the popularity of these events and augments the positive reputation of RTA as a modern-day transport and licensing body. He was of the view that the competition at the open auctions reaches new levels as the number plates are limited and many number plates enthusiasts set their eyes to secure the same number plate.

He added that the positive competition between bidders showcases the actual beauty of this event and makes it a real success every time.
