Brigadier Ahmad Al Shehhi, Deputy Director of the Traffic Patrol Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police said that the installation of the new radars will improve road safety situation in Abu Dhabi. He added that the new radars will boost monitoring capabilities of authorities and help them nab down motorists driving vehicles with expired registration.

Penalties for Driving a Vehicle with Expired Registration

Brigadier Ahmad Al Shehhi revealed the penalties for driving a vehicle with expired registration in Abu Dhabi and warned motorists against committing this serious offence. According to the Article 25b of the Traffic Law, motorists can be fined AED 500 and four black points can be issued against their driving license for driving a vehicle with expired registration. The vehicle can also be impounded for seven days if its registration is not renewed within three months of expiration.

How will the New Radars Work?

The Abu Dhabi Police announced its plans to install new radars through its official social media channels and also posted a video that clearly explained how these radars will work. These smart radars will be installed on all major roads across Abu Dhabi. These radars will be connected to the control room from where the functioning of these radars will be regulated.

The new radars will be activated to detect vehicles with expired registration and the snapshot of such vehicles will be sent to the control room to take actions against the owners of these vehicles. The radars will also inform the authorities of the date of registration expiry of the vehicles so that motorists can be penalized accordingly.
