Here is a review of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class with a closer look at its new design, performance, new technologies, safety features and a lot more.

Design of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class has been redesigned to make the hatchback sportier and more modern. The exterior is more stylish while the interior is now more spacious and is fitted with latest technologies to make the in-cabin experience for the occupants better than ever before.

Exterior

Sporty and gorgeous, the exterior of the all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class has been redesigned for a more modern-day look. A lot of changes have been brought to the exterior of the hatchback, especially to the front fascia that has been inspired by the latest CLS sedan.

At first glance, one can notice that the headlights now have a sportier design with the covers appearing wider near the grille and thinner near the fenders for an aggressive look. The grille has also been inspired by the CLS sedan to become wider at the bottom, however, it has retained the silver horizontal bar that runs through the middle of the grille and the diamond mesh behind it.

For an even more powerful appearance, the lower bumper has been redesigned to have a larger air dam while the air intakes with black slats help in enhancing the engine cooling function and add to the aerodynamics of the exterior.

The hood is now muscular as it sits a lot lower than before to bring a sloped look to the nose and make the hood look smaller. This not only makes the 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class more aerodynamic, but also gives it a standout drag coefficient of 0.25.

As for the side profile of the hatchback, the wheelbase of the vehicle is now longer and has wider fenders. The rear of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class has received plenty of changes including its wider appearance, which is all thanks to the wide rear fenders.

The taillights are wider towards the fenders and thinner towards the license plate to make the vehicle appear aggressive even from behind. The tailgate is also broader and now features a sporty diffuser to add to its sporty appeal and make it more dynamic.

The optional exterior features include two first-in-class features that are the Multibeam LED headlamps and a two-section Airpanel. The Airpanel is an aero-enhancing system, which is placed behind the grille that opens or closes the louvers to make the engine cooling function more efficient.

The cabin has a very avant-garde look, thanks to the Mercedes-Benz designers who have left no stone unturned in revolutionizing the interior of the compact class.

The first thing that one will notice about the cabin is a multi-tier, wing-shaped dashboard that draws the attention of the occupants. The center console has been redesigned to appear well-organized and harmonious with the dashboard design.

The 2018 A-Class has an all-digital instrument cluster with a 10.5-inch infotainment display that can be used with the brand new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) Infotainment System. This latest infotainment system is technologically advanced (comes with intelligent Voice Control System with Natural Speech Recognition) and uses Artificial Intelligence to enhance the in-cabin experience for the occupants. By simply saying “Hey Mercedes,” the system will be activated and the occupants can get directions, play music, send messages, answer calls and do a lot more.

Thanks to its longer wheelbase, the rear legroom has been increased to make the ride more comfortable for the rear seat passengers. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class comes with first-in-class Multicontour Seat optional package in which the front seats are fitted with a massage function.

Right in front of the driver is a redesigned 3-spoke steering wheel that has been added to make the cockpit sportier. The cabin is highly customizable with the options for materials, open-pore real wood and color, along with the option of 64-color Ambient Lighting System.
