The Dubai Police has announced a 50% discount on all traffic fines, much to the delight of motorists with pending traffic fines. However, the discount is only valid for fines incurred from January 1, 2017 to December 2, 2017. The new discount on traffic fines is part of the 46th National Day celebrations and is an initiative taken for the well-being of motorists.

The Ministry of Interior has fundamentally directed traffic authorities across the UAE to offer a 50% discount on traffic fines in their respective emirates. Accordingly, traffic authorities in all seven emirates have either implemented the discount on traffic fines or the grace period for a prevailing discount on traffic fines in some emirates has been extended.

Traffic authorities in Sharjah had announced a 50% discount on traffic fines in October while in Umm Al Quwain, the discount on traffic fines was announced in November. The grace period for discount offered on traffic fines has been extended in both emirates.

Details of 50% Discount on Traffic Fines Announced in Dubai

Motorists with pending traffic fines in Dubai will now get a big relief as traffic authorities have announced a 50% discount on traffic fines. As per the announcement, it is important for motorists to settle their pending fines within 90 days under this new initiative in order to avail the 50% discount on all traffic fines. The decision to implement discount on traffic fines is in line with the directions of His Highness, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. These directions were issued to the Ministry of Interior with the instruction to share them with traffic and licensing departments of all the seven emirates and cooperate with them to implement this decision to offer a discount on traffic fines across the UAE.

The grace period for discount offer on traffic fines has been extended according to these directions. In Ras Al Khaimah, a 55% discount on traffic fines was implemented from November 1, 2017, to November 15, 2017, which was first extended till December 2 and now it has been extended further following the instructions of Ministry of Interior. Police in Fujairah and Ajman has also extended the grace period of the ongoing 50% discount offer, while in Sharjah, the discount on traffic fines that began on October 19 is scheduled to end on December 30, 2017.
