Concept vehicles are a brands’ way of showing what they are capable of and what they have planned for the future. The 2017 Dubai International Motor Show played host to some of the best concept vehicles from outstanding brands who showed the audience what they have in store for the future.

From Mercedes-AMG to Nissan, companies brought their best concepts to the UAE to the great enthusiasm of the Emiratis. Of all the cars displayed at the Dubai International Motor Show 2017, there were some stunning concept vehicles that grabbed the attention of the attendees.

Nissan BladeGlider

Originally debuted in Tokyo Auto Show in 2013, the Nissan BladeGlider is an all-electric concept sports car. This zero-emission vehicle comes with an advanced all-electric powertrain that offers a smooth performance and dynamic handling to the driver.

Representing Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility, the BladeGlider concept has an advanced chassis with a wider rear track and a narrow front track for improved stability, excellent handling and aerodynamic efficiency. The concept sports car also boosts rear-hinged, high-waisted dihedral doors for a dramatic entry and exit.

The cabin of this concept sports car has been fitted with three comfortable seats, one at the front for the driver and two at the back for passengers. The seats have been trimmed in a highly tactile blend of epoxy resin coating and high-quality fabric that enhances the overall comfort of the occupants.

This is a rear-wheel drive sports concept that has a 130kW motor on each rear wheel that generates 268 horsepower and a torque of 707Nm collectively, thanks to the 220kW lithium-ion battery. The BladeGlider by Nissan has a top speed of 190 Km/h and can go from 0 to 100 Km/h in under 5 seconds.

Mercedes-AMG GT Concept

As a part of their 50th Anniversary celebrations, Mercedes-AMG showcased the stunning Mercedes-AMG GT Concept car at the Dubai Motor Show 2017. This four-door coupe is powered by a hybrid system that can generate impressive power to go with the stunning look of the vehicle.

Designed with the intent of bringing it to the production line soon, the vehicle has a distinctive look that is synonymous with the current design language of the brand. The exterior of the vehicle has side gills, vertical grille ribs, slim headlights, large carbon-fiber diffuser and large liftgate to further enhance the look of the vehicle.

The daytime running lights use nano active-fiber technology that creates the signature AMG look. The LED headlights have a pair of tubular “rod lights” that illuminate the road. A carbon fiber roof, side sills and front spoiler have been added to help make the vehicle weigh lighter while improving the overall driving dynamics and handling.

As for the performance of the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept, the vehicle is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, one electric motor and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. This hybrid vehicle is said to have 805 horsepower and will have three modes of operation (electric, combined and gasoline).

The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept can go from 0 to 60mph in less than 3 seconds, which is incredible for a hybrid vehicle.

Concept One by Rimac

Being called the “Supercar of the Future” by the brand Rimac Automobili, Concept One was brought to Dubai International Motor Show 2017 by Gotham Motors. Concept One has an extraordinary design and superior performance specifications that make it a remarkable concept car.

The exterior of the car is aesthetically pleasing while being aerodynamic. With elegant lines, smooth curves and striking looks, the car is truly an embodiment of sheer beauty. At the front of the vehicle are headlights with 58 high-power LEDs, while the rear of the car has an air intake that works effectively as a rear cooling system.

The cabin boasts the Rimac Automobili DNA and offers functionality, comfort and state-of-the-art luxury features. The leather trimmed seats are positioned low so that the driver is closer to the center of gravity of the vehicle. With other features such as the electro-hydraulic steering system and the beautifully crafted central console, the cabin offers many innovative technologies and modern luxuries for enhanced convenience of the driver and passengers.

Thanks to the 90 kWh ion battery, the Concept One has 1,224 horsepower and a torque of 1,600Nm. With a driving range of 350 Km and a top speed of 355 Km/h, this all-electric concept sports car can go from 0 to 100 Km/h in just 2.5 seconds.

It also comes with safety features such as Anti-lock Braking System, Traction Control, Torque Vectoring with Stability Function and a lot more.

BMW X7 iPerformance

First unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show 2017, the BMW X7 iPerformance made an appearance at the Dubai International Motor Show 2017 as well. This new concept vehicle will be taking its place in the X Series lineup that is famous for its exclusive “Sports Activity Vehicle” signature name.

This sleek concept vehicle will have the biggest interior by BMW and as the brand is promising to bring this vehicle to the production line next year, BMW enthusiasts will not have to wait too long to see this vehicle in showrooms and on the roads.

A huge signature kidney grille at the front of the vehicle makes it look aggressive and menacing, while the 23-inch wheels ensure that the vehicle stands tall and proud. The vehicle has high ground clearance, making it an ideal choice for adventure enthusiasts that prefer to go on adventure trips in style.

The cabin is spacious and the seats are roomy and comfortable. As for the instrument cluster, the BMW X7 iPerformance vehicle has a big 12.3-inch TFT screen, while the passengers will have personal infotainment screens that can be operated via Gesture Control.

The BMW X7 iPerformance is expected to be launched as a plug-in hybrid, however, no official announcement has been made about the powertrain of the vehicle. It is rumored that the vehicle will be fitted with one electric motor and a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder. The predicted combined output of the powertrain is 250 horsepower and 400Nm of torque.

The BMW X7 iPerformance is expected to reach the global market as a vehicle for 6 or 7 passengers next year as the 2019 model.
