The 2018 Maserati Ghibli offers a refreshed exterior and interior and has received updated powertrain technologies to make it the best Ghibli till date.

Maserati is calling the all-new Ghibli the opposite of ordinary and rightly so. The designers and engineers at this Italian luxury brand have completely revamped the sport sedan from front to back and improved the aerodynamics of the sedan by 7% as compared to the previous model.

The 2018 Maserati Ghibli made its debut at the 2017 Chengdu Motor Show in China and since then, it has become one of the most anticipated vehicles of 2018 among the luxury and sport sedan enthusiasts across the globe. Almost every design element of the all-new Ghibli has been refreshed while the interior has been updated to be more luxurious.

Here is an in-depth review of the 2018 Maserati Ghibli with a closer look at its new design, performance specifications, safety features and more.

Design of the 2018 Maserati Ghibli

The design of the 2018 Maserati Ghibli is bold and elegant, yet at the same time, it demands the attention of everyone. The exterior is aggressive and commanding, while the interior is designed to be spacious and luxurious to fit in as many technologically advanced features as possible.

Exterior

The exterior of the 2018 Maserati Ghibli has been extensively redesigned so that this sport sedan can truly shine. The agile profile of the vehicle complements the new front fascia that boasts a new grille and headlight design.

The iconic Trident logo is still present at the front of the vehicle, but in the 2018 model, it sits in the center of the new grille. The grille retains the signature Maserati styling, however, it is more squared off and narrower than before.

The new style of the grille is inspired by the legendary 1950s Maserati A6 GCS Berlinetta and now features chrome bars to reflect the automotive design language of that era. The grille is now integrated into the front bumper so that they look properly meshed together. The air intakes are larger and wider so that they can perform engine cooling function efficiently.

The headlights also have a new sharper and slopping design that fits well with the overall new look of the vehicle. The hood of the 2018 Maserati Ghibli is contoured to be muscular, it has two arching lines that come down to make a distinct V-shape and draw the attention of the onlookers while making the hood more aerodynamic.

The body colored side skirts blend-in harmoniously with the overall elegant design, however, the front fenders are now more pronounced and accentuate the new design changes. The “GranLusso” or “GranSport” is written near the front wheels in an elegant script with chrome to distinguish the trim level.

To make the stance of the vehicle more aggressive and enhance the sporty appeal of the sedan, Maserati has added 20-inch Mercurio light-alloy wheels that come with visible brake calipers in black color. The rear bumper has been completely redesigned to incorporate the new reflectors that are now present at each side of the bumper.

Chrome accents can be found on the grille, front lower bumper, the Trident, around the windows and rear of the vehicle. The exterior is available in two non-metallic colors (Nero and Bianco) and eleven metallic colors including the famous Rosso Energia and Blu Emozione colors.

Interior

To further improve the luxurious appeal and comfort of the vehicle, the designers at Maserati have made the cabin spacious. Maserati has reworked the interior and redesigned the center console to properly incorporate the updated infotainment system. The cabin’s appearance and comfort will change with the trim level. The GranLusso trim level’s cabin will have a more luxurious appeal while the cabin of the GranSport will be sportier.

In the GranLusso trim, the driver and passengers will enjoy 12-way power adjustable Comfort seats that come with memory function. The interior comes with the option between full premium leather upholstery and the Ermenegildo Zegna Silk Edition upholstery, both of which will perfectly complement the Radica open-pore wood trim.

The interior of the 2018 Maserati Ghibli is handcrafted to bring the best Italian luxuries to the driver and passengers alike. The whole interior is given a leather finish to give the appearance of a clean, pure and refined design. The leather is complemented by metallic-effect dark mirror trim to take the luxury appeal of the interior to an entirely new level. The front of the cabin has class-leading legroom, while the rear passengers have enough room to fully enjoy the comfort of this sport sedan.

The two side panels on the dashboard flow seamlessly towards the center of the dashboard to offer a homogenous look. In the center is a traditional Maserati analog clock with aluminum detailing and blue face. Right beneath that is the new 8.4-inch Maserati touchscreen infotainment system with rotary controls.

The 2018 Maserati Ghibli is the first vehicle from the brand that comes with an electronic power steering for better handling and stability. The performance of the all-new Ghibli is dynamic and refined and even after the extensive update, the vehicle still brings the distinct Maserati driving experience.

The 2018 Ghibli is a rear-wheel drive sport sedan that is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine that comes in two power specifications. In either power specification, the engine will be paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission that offers precise gear change and optimum performance at all times. The seventh and eighth gears are calibrated to enhance the ride comfort and fuel consumption when the sedan is driven at high speeds.
